Commission Procedures

Mary's goal in portraiture is to capture the fleeting
moments of daily life that reflect the spirit and soul
of her clients in a manner that will endure for
generations. Whether creating corporate or private
portraits, Mary paints her subjects in the style of
impressionistic realism. The portrayal of personality
and likeness is achieved by capturing the effect of
light and form by using beautiful harmonic color, and
graceful yet bold brushwork. Mary's work ranges from
formal portraits to informal scenes that are
reflective of a specific mood, time and place. The
results are a beautiful representation of those
moments recorded for posterity.
The commission process involves the client and artist
working closely to determine the mood, size, and
background elements of the painting. The subject's
clothing and where the final portrait is to hang will
also are discussed. During the initial meeting Mary
will make preliminary sketches. Whenever possible an
oil study from life will be crafted providing a
valuable reference tool for the artist. Detailed photo
references will be obtained. From these materials,
Mary will begin the portrait process by starting the
sketch on canvas. After consultation with the client,
the artist will complete the painting.
The agreed upon price does not include taxes, framing,
shipping, insurance, or travel and lodging expenses. A
deposit of 20% is due upon commission. The balance is
due upon completion. Additional subjects, add 75%
sitter fee per subject. Delivery is arraigned upon
completion and client satisfaction.
